RECENT POLITICAL STUFF -

PRESS RELEASE    from the Federation of European Motorcyclists' Associations
2nd April 2007
Daytime Running Lights:         The two faces of the European Commission

Campaigns:

Sign Up to Defend Motorcycling Issued 14th April 2006 - The Motorcycle Action Group has fired the first round in the campaign against the motorcycle aspects contained in the 3rd European Driving Licence
Directive. The campaign is fronted by a dedicated website which gives a new dimension to MAG's concerted efforts for the withdrawal of the motorcycle parts of the directive.
M.A.G. is asking for a more meaningful directive that balances riders' reasonable expectations for freedom of access to motorcycles, mobility and the prevention of accidents.
1. The campaign website can be found at:

  2. MAG welcomes all European riders to sign the petition on the campaign
website - please make every effort to do so.

European Bandwagon Moves Against Motorcycling (Issued 30th March 2006)   The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) has condemned the latest EU decision on motorcycle licensing which has shown the bureaucrats in their true colours.
MAG says, "This is total war!" - THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF MOTORCYCLING THROUGHOUT THE E.U.

MAG Flies Flag for Democracy
The Motorcycle Action Group is generating opposition to the government's effort to undermine
parliament.
The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill 2006 seeks to streamline the political process to make it far easier for Government to slip through legislation without the normal checks and balances
which have characterised British law making for centuries.
MAG are particularly concerned by the reduced obligation to publish details of forthcoming
legislation, at which point, in the past, groups like MAG have had warning of impending threats,
thus giving us time to lobby for amendments.
Having taken advice on the implications of the bill, MAG feels that as a group which represents a
minority interest we are the most likely victims of it, as our opportunity to identify threats and
organise opposition to them would be reduced.
MAG is encouraging its members to contact their MPs and urge them to vote against the bill when it returns to Parliament for a Third Reading and urgently raise concerns to those MPs discussing the bill at present at Committee stage before Thursday 9th March .
